Michigan ACT Policy

So currently I have a 32 on the ACT (OOS) and my superscore is a 34 (I took the October ACT so wish me luck). I heard Michigan doesn’t superscore but it doesn’t say anything on the website. I haven’t seen any other schools without an answer on their website but want to know if they will look at my section scores at all or just my highest composite?

Here is the policy https://umich.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2079/~/how-are-test-results-used-in-the-admissions-review-process%3F

So it doesn’t superscore per se BUT they do look at all the subscores that you send in. Think of it as superscore light. So it doesn’t hurt you to send in all your scores

Should I send Michigan all of my ACT scores then? If it would increase my super score?

Well I decided to send in my December 2018 score which has a 34 on science so wish me luck!

Like many schools, i think they look at composite, but also at individual sub scores that are relevant to their school, like engineering will want high math/science scores etc.

Um… you sent in your Dec’18 score on Nov 3? It won’t get there by Nov 1 for EA. Did you send in any of your scores before to make sure you hold your place on EA?

Yes, they have every other score, this just has my best science by 2 points

So as stated they don’t Superscore. They won’t take two Acts and give you the higher score composite. But since Michigan is truly holistic they will look at your subscores. So if you scored a 32 on math on one test and a 35 on math on another test, yes they will note that. They get it that you might just do better on that one day so a bad subscore won’t hurt you “if” you send in all your scores. My son sent in all his 3 scores from the Act. First time taking he was sick. It showed and he explained it
Ended up with a 34 with high subscores in math /science.

He was told by his Michigan counselor after the fact that Michigan likes kids that don’t give up and try to improve themselves. So I don’t see any negative in sending all your scores.

Thanks for that response, I’ve sent in 5 tests to Michigan (because they were in my free send) and I hope they see my dedication

Michigan does not superstore. However, when I was at the info session they said to send all your scores because they will consider the highest sections across all tests taken even though they don’t formally superstore. Looks like you made the right decision!
