Looks/feels like the campaign is ahead of schedule with significant funding raised for student scholarships and aid. The published accounts differ slightly, due to timing differences, from the university figure, which is at $3.5Bln. The campaign has 2+ years to run, so they should be able to coast over the $4Bln goal.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — University of Michigan officials say roughly 7,000 donors in southeastern Michigan have contributed about $36 million this fiscal year to a multi-year fundraising campaign.
The Ann Arbor school on Wednesday announced the results of the Southeast Michigan Student Support Initiative. The university’s Board of Regents set a goal of raising at least $25 million during the period in 10 counties.
Board members tapped their networks of alumni and others at donor events.
The university says donations were made for scholarships, fellowships, internships and global study.
The initiative is part of the Victors for Michigan campaign, which launched in 2013 with a goal of raising $4 billion. The school says the campaign has raised $3.4 billion, including $588 million toward a goal of $1 billion for student support.
