'Michigan Competitive Scholarship'

As Michigan residents know, if you have taken or will take the Michigan Merit Exam (MME) by the time of your graduation, you are eligible for up to 4000 dollars towards college at a Michigan postsecondary institution.

I have this, filled out my PIN etc, and got my grant for 1000 for both the first two years and 2000 in year three.

Now, the question I'm curious about, is the Michigan Competitive Scholarship.

When do we find out about this as incoming freshman next year? My stats certainly qualified me for it, but I'm curious as to whether this was a university thing, where Michigan was limited to X amount of competitive scholarships, or if every student meeting requirements gets one.

I could use it certainly.

thanks for your help.

I believe that the Michigan Competitive Scholarship also requires you to be in financial need to receive the scholarship, thus U of M awards its certain number of these to academically qualified students who also have a lot of financial need.

I could be wrong though…

I figured as much.

Would have hoped we would have qualified, my sister received one with worse stats, and both parents had jobs. Now neither do.

Thats that though.

Thanks.
