@Meghankira I also had that prompt and was confused by the way they wanted us to answer…don’t know if I can say more about that but I don’t think I answered the prompt fully…
I wouldn’t be too worried about writing as long as you gave reasons that are somewhat good and refuted counter arguments.
I remember taking the exact same test on a different date… This test was recycled for the state of Mississippi. The test we took for the reading passages involved some King from Hawaii, independent bookstores, warning colors on organisms, and light. Let me know if you guys got the same test as I did.
Yep, it’s the same one.
I thought English was easy, math was easy up to the last 5-10 questions, reading was pretty easy, and science was medium. I’m hoping for generous curves in math and science.
I wouldn’t be too worried about the writing either. The first time I took the ACT I gave three really general reasons for my argument and didn’t really argue my points well, but I made sure to refute a counter argument for each of my points. I ended up with an 8.
@TommyD36 do you remember the curves?
No, but I do know it was the September 2013 test. @studying123

Yep I had 71D. My general feelings:
English: There were a few tricky ones, I made a careless mistake. Does anybody here remember the answer to the question about the fish? Would it be: The fish, whom… or The fish, which…
Math: So I spent A LOT of time on question one question and ended up guessing on the last few. IDK if it was harder or easier than usual. I tend to do pretty well in math, so can’t tell the difference. Can somebody please predict my score if i missed 3-4? Thanks
Reading: The first passage about the King of Hawaii made no sense to me… I feel like I screwed up on that one. Besides that passage, I feel like it was pretty straightforward/average.
Science: Average. The comparison passage was easier than usual, I ended up guessing on like the last 3-4 though. Guessing I made 2-3 other careless mistakes on the way. Ehhh, I could have done better on it.
Essay: Pretty easy/straightforward.
@waddups I believe the answer was The fish, which. I’m pretty sure it’s not whom because the fish were not the object of the sentence.
I also said the fish, which.
@kolaman17 Hmmm, I thought that “which” wouldn’t refer to a specific person/animal, rather it would refer to a “group.” For example, the committee, which adopted the new legislation, went on to… or the group, which consisted of teens, got in trouble…
Does anyone else take the ACT WorkKeys tomorrow as well for their part of state testing?
Yep
“Whom” is used for people, so I think you would have to use “which” in that situation.
Yeah i take workkeys today. Wish we got a day off though bc that 5 hour ACT was draining lol. Annnnnd I also put “which” for the fish question but it was one of the questions i was super unsure about.
The Workkeys didn’t seem too bad, there was one and the math I guessed on though and a couple on the last test were a little difficult
The questions must get more and more difficult then I guess. It seemed really easy overall, though. It doesn’t seem like there’s too much to discuss about it.
Do u know when we will get our results
Locating information got really difficult towards the end.
