@Arlmom2 Even if you do not get the invitation to Amaizing Blue (or missed the opportunity like my D), you should be offered to go the Spring Welcome Day which is the continual extension after Amaizing Blue. Most of the itinerary is the same as Campus Day.
My son was given the Regents Scholarship ($1500 first year only for in state). I really didn’t think there was that much available for in state students… but someone told me her daughter was up for the Singer/Stamps scholarship at Michigan? I have only heard of Singer/Stamps at U Miami?
Do the scholarships mostly go to ED students? My son applied RD and has been admitted. Is he out of the scholarship hunt? We are OOS and even $10K would be most welcome…
@wrights1994 Regents scholarship is for the top 525 or so in state students. Did your son apply to Michigan Competitve Scholarship too? The Regents is a one time deal while the MCS is renewable. If you get Regents, for sure you can get MCS too. The typical large scholarships for in state students are $10,000 for LSA and $8000 for CoE.
@tamara6 When you apply EA, you are automatically considered for merit scholarships. However, if you are admitted by Feb 1, you are still eligible for merit scholarships. There are also some scholarships with a different deadline and some require additional application.
@billcsho, he did apply for Michigan competitive scholarship… I had no idea he may actually get something from it! Reading the letter I felt it may be need based, which we would not qualify for, but my son said that his counselor said he may get something. Do you know when those are announced? He is still waiting to hear from a few schools but U of M is the least expensive for us right now as it is in state!
@wrights1994 You are right that the MCS does consider need. It came out around late July last year. Regents is probably the earliest one got announced. Getting Regents does not mean he cannot get additional scholarships from umich.
Thanks. He was admitted Feb. 6, so I guess merit scholarships are out. Sigh.
