Michigan State Finance vs UMichigan Econ

I’m a student at a community college and plan to transfer to one of these schools as a junior. I want to work at a company like Ford, GM, or Quicken Loans after college. Over the long-term, I want to do a top 20 MBA and work in corporate finance. I like finance, so if I go to Michigan State then that will be my major. UMichigan doesn’t have an undergraduate finance major, so I’d have to major in something related like Econ. At the end of the day, I just want a decent job at a company like Ford or Quicken Loans. Which program has the better job prospects? Also, what kind of jobs should I apply for after college? Financial analyst? Consulting?

I’d apply to both and see where you are accepted. Talk to admissions at Ross and see what is available too.

Mike, Michigan does not offer a major in Finance, but it offers a BBA. 45% of BBA majors work in Finance. The problem with going to Michigan is that you are not guaranteed admission into Ross unless you are preadmitted, which is very rare. Most students enroll at Michigan in LSA or CoE and apply to Ross at the end of Freshman year.
