I will be starting the fall quarter on the 20th, and I was wondering if this was a wise decision for me to make. I registered for microeconomics instead of macro mainly because of all the macro classes being full. Does it really matter which one I take first because I heard that in the beginning of micro is all about macroeconomics? Is this true? Btw I am at De Anza college. Thanks.

I’ve taken micro and am currently enrolled in macro. Chapters 1-5 in macro (all we’ve learned thus far) is identical to the concepts I learned in the beginning of micro, consisting basically of the laws of supply, laws of demand, elasticity, consumer and producer surpluses, etc. The basics are shared between the two, so when you take macro next semester, you will have an advantage, at least in the beginning

Generally it is better to take Micro first. But, macro first won’t put you behind. I know my macro professor expects us to know a lot of micro, but this is probably more a function of micro being required first at UT.
