Hi,
Is there anyone on this forum in UW's microbiology program? I was curious what your experience has been thus far and if you found it a valuable undergraduate major. Additionally, any advice or perspective would be appreciated.

I got my BS in micro at UW and really enjoyed it. It’s a solid undergrad program (8th in the country when I was there) and I was able to get a really sweet job after and later, into a doctoral micro program in Boston.

The most valuable thing you can do as a micro major is get in a lab with a micro faculty member as early as possible for lab experience. The earlier you start, the more likely you’ll be to gain the skills and trust to eventually start working on experimental design and analysis, which is incredibly helpful once you’re done with undergrad.
