Which school is better for science majors and hand-on experiences? I live closer to Calstate LA, so is it worth to attend Calpoly Pomona if it's better?
Also, Calpoly Pomona offers B.S Biotechnology and it's one of the impacted majors. Do I get a better chance for medical schools if I pick Biotechnology?
Thank you for reading and for your opinions.

Cal Poly Pomona is probably the stronger school, particularly for science and technology. As long as you complete the medical school prerequisite courses, it really does not matter what you major in as long as you get outstanding grades.

I don’t know anything about Cal State LA besides that our school maintains a relationship with them where we do “course share” through concurrent enrollment if you want. I know that Cal State LA isn’t particularly well-regarded in general just from hearsay.

You want a hands-on experience? Come to Cal Poly Pomona. I do applied math here and we do a lot of hands on work. That’s our “philosophy”. Less theoretical, more practical. Although, as a math major, there is a good balance between theory and practical application I’ve noticed so far in my courses. You’ll get a good education here. I don’t know about CSULA.

Medical schools are generally thought not to care about your undergraduate major. They do want to see you do well in pre-med courses, overall courses, and MCAT. Many pre-meds do biology majors because they include most or all of the pre-med courses, but many do non-biology majors and take the pre-med courses alongside.
