Mid April Decisions?

Ok I think trying to find a correlation between the mid-April and Early-April notifications and admissions decisions is entirely presumptuous. They haven't even gone through all the applications and made their decisions, the mid or early April statement came in the "application completed" email which simply means they have all the required documents to make the decision. The emails that said mid-April were recieved within the last week or so, so all that means is that Pomona must have changed its mind about the amount of time it will take to come to final decisions in the middle of the "completed application" notification process. I think all of us (including myself) just need to calm down and wait and see. Look at it this way...it will be more of a surprise than out other college notifications...

It is rather inconvenient though because it doesn't allow you as long to compare your offers and decide where you want to go. Especially if you haven't seen some of the colleges you were accepted at or want to revisit to get another feel for the campus :(

Pomona does its best to ensure that all accepted students know as soon as possible so they can make travel arrangements to visit the campus - either on their own or in conjunction with accepted students visit dates. Also, the College hosts regional receptions around the country in April so that students who cannot travel to campus have the opportunity to meet Admissions representatives, other accepted students, and alumni (and parents can meet current and prospective parents). All acceptances are sent priority mail for these reasons.

I agree that I think you guys may be reading too much into this.

Plus, you might want to check your email, Pomona just sent out an email regarding the discrepancy among the dates:

"Our earlier notification that your application was complete and ready for review indicated vaguely that you would receive your admission decision by “mid April.” Our expectation is to notify you of the Admissions Committee’s decision by April 4, 2009. We are sorry for any confusion and regret adding to the stress of the admission season.

If you have any questions prior to then, please feel free to contact us at (909) 621-8134 or email admissions@pomona.edu.

Best,

The Pomona College Admissions Office"

yup, just got that same e-mail. you guys all REALLY need to take a breather. myself included.

Whew just got the email... ha ha we are a stressed bunch : )

Someone told me that you could call to check your status, but is there any way I could check the status online?

Not online. In the past, Pomona has sent its RD letters out earlier than expected; however, the April 5th date is there as the latest that notifications will be sent.

Good luck!
