Is it true that the mid term grades sent out generally tend to be about one letter grade lower? That is what I have heard from most of my fellow students. I know several of my professors said they would not send out an A as a mid term grade as they do not want their students to get "too confident".

My D got a B+ in one class and the rest A’s, so I don’t know where your info comes from.

The profs who told us that are all in the Honors program. One said he only ever gives out one A per class as he is against grade inflation. Of course his class was the one I got a B in.

Some professors told me it was an accurate calculation of all grades hitherto entered, others said it was ball-park, others said it excluded the mid-term or homework or whatever. It will depend upon the individual classes/professors, so listen to what they tell you for the grades they enter.

All of my grades are based on my midterm exams and any other class work I’ve had so far, I’ve never heard of anything like that happening
