Hi everyone,
I applied to Midd for early decision and yesterday I received an email asking for mid-year report. Does anyone here receive the same email? As my high school (A-level) doesn't provide one until January, will that harm my chance of being admitted? Help!!!

Do you have any grades at all this year (meaning a report card, of any sort)? If so, send it. If not, contact them and tell them you don’t. Good luck!

glad I’m not the only one. I just emailed my college counselor the information and I assume that they just want first marking period grades?
However, I find it ironic that it says specifically on the application status page that
“Thank you for submitting your application to Middlebury College. The items listed below are required to complete your file, with these two exceptions:
Mid-Year Senior Grades.
Final High School Transcript.”
So, maybe the email’s just a mess-up or the website is off. Either one, I’ll just sent them in tomorrow…

I sent in my 1st quarter grades and it filled in the “Mid-Year Senior Grades” spot. I wonder if we’ll have to send in our semester grades if we get deferred, because our mid-year grade spot is already filled in. This could work in my favor, as I’m not doing too hot in calculus this quarter.

“My school year consists of two semesters, and the ED1 decision notification date is before the end of my first semester.”

They replied:
“We need any senior grade that you have received. First quarter grades will be fine. You can either scan these to this email or fax them to 802 443 2056. Sorry about the confusion. Thanks for the email.”

WHAT FIRST QUARTER?!?!?!? I did say that we only have two semesters right?

Thank you, everyone~!
Seems that my counselor emailed them and told them it’s impossible to give mid-year report at this stage. However, the line ‘Mid-Year Senior Grades’ is now filled with the comment ‘A levels here’. I guess they use my predicted grade for A-level.

@Shewy
I think they assume you have something like mid-semester exams so they require the scores/grades. Anyway, the best way I’ve found is to let counselor write to/call them directly. Hope it helps~

If your school does not offer quarter grades of any type, have your counselor call and confirm that information. Admissions are probably looking for some sort of progress report that suggests you are taking a rigorous course load vs elementary basket-weaving and coloring inside the lines for your senior year. And yes, if you are deferred, you will have to send mid-term reports like any other RD candidate.

D did not get any such email after applying ED…hope it’s not a bad sign (like they wrote her off already or something…) I just txted her to check her email. Maybe she already got it and took care of it.

… or maybe her school automatically sent quarter grades or whatever it was that Midd was in need of without having to ask for it.

It’s a hugely stressful time for everyone - parents and students alike. We all want dreams to come true. So put a positive attitude out into the world so it returns to you. A tad hokey perhaps, but it does seem to work. What I know to be absolutely true is that it all works out in the end. S did not get into his ED school and in truth, Middlebury wasn’t even on his short list until AFTER that initial rejection. So, you just never know where life will take us and that whole “where one door closes, a window opens” thing.

Note that even after your ED acceptance, you will have to send your semester grades, and your end of the year grades, and Midd can RESCIND your ED admission if your grades slip. Last year a poster got a pretty mean letter when a BC calc grade slipped from a B to a C…Tho the acceptee in question did not get rescinded…

The same thing happened to me and my school is on a semester grading system so i emailed admissions to let them know that i had nothing to offer till january and i never received a reply. this was several days ago. So… do you think I should call admissions? or was my email enough? I could fax them my senior grades from the first quarter… but i only am in 2 high school classes, the rest are at community college and i wont have grades for those for awhile. So…what should i do? 5 days 12 hours…

I applied ed and i sent them my first quarter grades, as they requested
but im wondering if anyone’s account with midd has been updated to include these grades under “mid senior year report” because mine has not so im worried they didnt get it but its not technically the mid senior year report so maybe it wouldnt show up there anyway?
any help??

Max - My GC sent mine on Dec 1st, and my application checklist was updated on Friday. Now “Mid Year Senior Grades” is marked received and they also added “Senior Grades” at the bottom which is also marked as received.

If you only sent them recently, I wouldn’t worry. If it’s been a week or more, then I would give them a call tomorrow morning.
