Middle of the road and stressing

So here I am with a 3.8 GPA and an 1880 on my SAT. Do I really have a chance to get into schools such as Cal Poly, Davis , and Berkeley with an engineering major?

The UCs are so numbered-based, and extremely competitive for engineering, I would look at UCB and UCD as far reaches. You might want to check out the mid-range scores for Cal Poly at USNews. Are you sure your math SATs show readiness for an engineering program?

Hi-Because you do not have your SAT scores broken down, nor do you have your SAT II, I encourage you to use this site to determine:http://www.ucop.edu:8080/eligibilitycalc/begin.jsp</a>
Now-let us say you have “met” the elgibility requirements for the UCs–your GPA is strong-but it looks like taking tests are not your strong point-Cal is known for its holistic review of your application-so that might ofset the SAT scores. Keep in mind, however, should you get accepted, you will be taking classes with some students who have scored 2400 on their SATs. Now-with that in mind, do you feel these schools are a good fit? My niece just graduated from UCB in engineering-it is a VERY rigorous program.

Thanks for the help. Here’s a further breakdown;
SAT I
Crit Reading 670
Math 620
Writing 590

SAT II
Literature 670
Math 2 570
US History 620

As for the school fit, I do not mind taking rigorous classes. In fact, I rather quite enjoy them so I do not believe that UCD or UCB would be a bad fit. However, I was looking at UCB as a sort of a long shot. As for readiness for the math classes, I believe I am fine as I have taken all the math I can (up to Honors Calculus). It just seems that I can’t take a test to save my life. Also, does it help that I do have machining and mechanical experience (4 years). Thanks
