Did anyone’s acceptance mention paying for acceptee to visit preview days?

^wouldn’t that be nice!

My S got Accepted!!! So happy.

Got an early write by Skidmore.

Am also wondering if anyone got an invitation
to visit Middlebury.

Accepted. list of acceptances (so far)

Middlebury
Bowdoin
Colby
Colgate
WashU
William & Mary

What do you think is the best?

^Bowdoin of those.

I got into W&M too, I didn’t apply to the rest that you mentioned though. I’m torn between URichmond as a Richmond Scholar, and Middlebury.

I’d say go with Middlebury. There would be no other choice for me if I didn’t have a romantic attachment in VA. Were you accepted Monroe Scholar to W&M?

@cassiebreeze, yes I was but like you said, that isn’t really enough to attract me to VA. I’m torn between Midd/Bowdoin and WashU

Is money a factor?

Nope, thankfully not

What do you like about each?

@barvoets yeah, monroe wasn’t enough to hook me for W&M, even though thats where the attachment attends college hah. Richmond Scholar at UR though is enough to distract me from Midd. I’ve got a hard decision to make now. Midd totally outshines Williams even.

@barvoets I would tend to agree with SgtDonut. In the end it depends on you. I know that both of my sons liked Midd better. I have always preferred Bowdoin. While it is in a small town, it isn’t so hard to get to Portland or Boston. They have friends at both schools who wouldn’t change for anything. In the end it depends on what you are looking for. WashU would be the wild card for me as we haven’t visited it, so it might stay in your sights as well. The others, unless you like Virginia weather better or there are financial considerations, would not stay in the running from my view. Good luck in your decision!

@SgtDonut: I really like Bowdoin’s quality of life; it’s ranked in the top 5 for so many different facets of social life i.e. food, dorms, administration, happiest students. But it’s size worries me a little. I also like the location better than Midd. As for Midd, I love it’s academic qualities esp. the language and their economics!

@cassiebreeze: you really think Midd outshines Williams? such tough decisions!

Re size, keep in mind an additional 600 is across 4 years. Part of it is the Feb intake as well. You could argue that the additional 600 at Midd makes up for the fact it is a bit more remote. I would suggest you try to attend the accepted students weekend at both schools to get a better feeling.

I hope to attend the accepted student days at UR, Midd, and Williams. So I guess I’ll make my decision then.

The only problem is that Bowdoin and Midd’s weekends are on the same dates!

@barvoets was there anything on your online portal letter that mentioned paying for you to visit the weekend? UR and Williams are paying because im a URM, but the online portal didn’t mention it for Midd. I’m hoping the physical package will.

barvoets, have you visited either?

@cassiebreeze, nah i didn’t get any notification of money

@SgtDonut, well, i’ve briefly visited Middlebury two years ago, but I hardly remember anything.

Idk, a lot of people are telling me to go to Midd but I feel like Bowdoin quality of life is so nice!
