Middlebury Class of 2015 ED Applicant Decisions

I just thought I would set this up now, as there are exactly two weeks remaining until we get our decisions. I'm sure we could all use a place to vent in the meantime, too! haha

Come December 11th, we can each post our decisions here. For now, say hello! I'm sure we'd all like to know who our fellow EDers are. Hopefully we'll be seeing a page similar to this in two weeks:
Welcome to Middlebury

So, how are you all holding up? I'm just as anxious and uncertain as ever. It seems like every day I say to myself, "Yeah, I have a good shot!" and then an hour later I remember my just-barely-mid-50% SAT scores and convince myself that I'm getting rejected/deferred. Then I remind myself of how wonky the admissions process can be, and that it could realistically go either way. My mom actually doesn't want me to get accepted ED - "Don't you want to see where else you'd get accepted?" Not at the cost of a Midd rejection or deferral, I don't, especially if I have to suffer through an additional four months of this uncertainty.

Are you all feeling the heat as well? Also, does anyone know how many ED applications Midd received this year? I don't know whether or not they released the numbers yet.

Here is a good link

[Some Early Returns on Early Admission - NYTimes.com](Some Early Returns on Early Admission - The New York Times)

Middlebury 657 up from 654

You guys get them December 11th? No fair! Amherst kids have to wait until the 15th lol. Well best of luck to you all! I’m definitely planning on applying to Midd Regular Decision!

Awesome, thanks for the link, montaug. Do we know how many students Midd usually accepts EDI? On the stats sheet for the class of 2013, they accepted 328 students ED, but that’s probably ED1 and ED2 combined. So maybe half that for each? 164 ED1 and 164 ED2 acceptances? If so, this results in a ~25% acceptance rate for ED.

Yeah, elbeeen, December 11th at 8:00am! I’ll be applying to Amherst RD if I get rejected or deferred from Midd. Who knows, maybe we’ll end up at the same school! Good luck!

I was able to answer my own question with data mostly from [The Early Line on Early Admission - NYTimes.com](The Early Line on Early Admission - The New York Times) and from an info sheet on the class of 2013 that I picked up from the Midd admissions office when I toured it over the summer. For all those interested:

Class of 2014 ED Data
654 ED1 Applications
262 ED1 Acceptances
40.0612% Acceptance rate

Class of 2013 ED Data
648 ED1 Applications
274 ED1 Acceptances
42.284% ED1 Acceptance rate
? ED2 Applications
54 ED2 Acceptances (274 ED1 Acceptances subtracted from 328 “Number of students admitted Early Decision”)

That’s a surprisingly small amount of ED2 acceptances, and a surprisingly high ED1 acceptance rate, imo. I knew applying ED1 boosted the admissions rate, but I didn’t know it essentially doubled it.

Very encouraging stats. Thanks Dedede
B

Wow, those are encouraging! I’m still annoyed we have to wait 11 days though…probably the longest 11 days of my life.

im sooo nervous…only 9 more days! ugh it feels like a century.

or longer!!.. i feel like it will be easier to just know (accepted or rejected) than dealing with the uncertainity! its basically 8 days now though :)

Any one here know the exact time for decisions to be posted online? I’ve heard several different versions and just now I read an article and it says: ED I decisions will be mailed out on Dec. 10; however, there is also an electronic release, so most students will be able to access their decisions on the morning of Dec. 12.

Website:[The Middlebury Campus Blog Archive Early Decision I application numbers remain steady](http://www.middleburycampus.com/2010/12/01/early-decision-i-application-numbers-remain-steady/)

as far as I know and I have read on the Midd Website they are mailed Dec 10th and we can access them online at 8am on Dec 11th (at which time their website might crash :/). I’m pretty sure this is the case since I’ve got a couple friends who are fellow EDers and all have heard the same thing…

Kidlxe, I’m fairly certain that rubberduckylover is correct. If you sign into your personal “Middlebury College Application Information” site that was sent to you in an email and click on “Application Decision (available December 11, 2010),” it will bring you to an information page. The page says that the decisions are mailed on Friday, December 10th, and that we will be able to check our decisions online on December 11th at 8:00am. This is the page:

Am I the only EDer retaking the ACT on December 11th at 8:00am? :/

Thanks Dedede! I’m pretty sure now. btw, good luck everyone :)

You too! Just think, we could be all be there next september, hopefully!!

kidlxe,I’m not sure if the official time(December 11th at 8:00am) is for interntional students. Anyone knows the exact time for int’l applicants to check online?I’m in Asia, thx!

Less than a week guys!!!

Dufour, it’s 8AM EST, so just figure out the time difference where you are. For example, if you’re in China, it’ll be online at 9PM your time (sorry for the arbitrary example, CST is the only time difference I know off the top of my head).

Hi everyone! good luck!
I applied ED 2, and was wondering what the acceptance rate for ED 2 only was?
Thanks so much! :)

Sorry austrianpog, I’ve looked all over the interwebz and couldn’t find any relevant data. All I know about ED2 is that Midd accepted 52 students ED2 for the class of 2013. How many applied for it, however, I do not know. If anyone knows how many students applied RD for the class of 2013, we could figure it out. That data may be more accessible, but I still can’t find it. I’ve only been able to find total applicant numbers - not specifically RD.

Also, we can finally say “this Saturday!”

^ thanks its okay  i actually was on midd’s website earlier looking for it and found it, and calculated it to be like around 16-17% for ED 2 . I cant find the link now however… ! if I find it, I’ll link it.
I can’t believe the rate (40%) for ED 1 is soooo much higher than 2!!! :(((
good luck everyone!

i remember reading somewhere that it is 34% for EDII (i have a weird numbers memory :)). Anyways, maybe I’m remembering wrong, but that sounds a lot better than 17% :)
