Yeah as far as I know, interviews don’t show up on college portals? Maybe I’m wrong. But yeah I felt my interview went well (after we spent 15 minutes trying to troubleshoot Zoom issues and quiet our dogs from yapping at each other haha)! Hoping for the best for us all!
It was 8:00AM for ED2
Wow, that’s early! Colby released their decisions RD the same time as their did for ED, so maybe that will be the same for Midd.
I didn’t get an interview, hope that’s not too bad of a sign.
@IowaMom66 My understanding is that interviews are offered if there is alumni in your area to conduct it. Not everyone gets one, so no need to worry.
@majormurphy it was 8:00 a.m. for ED1, also.
@PerformingDude, I saw you on Colby thread as well. My son got accepted , but he’s never seen it nor Midd. It seems you have a good sense of both Midd and Colby. Can you give a run down of the pluses and minuses for both schools?
Hey there. Congrats to your son about Colby!
I am more familiar with Midd, as my brother went there. The environment there is fantastic (similar laidback yet engaged environment as Bowdoin), and they are especially known for their foreign languages at a national level. They have a VERY fun and talented ultimate frisbee team (my brother played on it), and the classes seem to also emanate intimacy, relaxation, and engagement (at least those that I’ve seen). I can’t think of any cons at the moment. It might not be the best school for a super type-A or high strung student, as that’s not really the vibe (plus the town is very VERY quiet).
Colby is known for their 4-1-4 program, and a fellow admit recently told me that their social and physical environment is similar to Dartmouth (but less fratty/party culture), I am not sure how true that is but I figured I would share. They are also in a pretty rural environment around them.
Both are wonderful schools! Hope this helped somewhat!
Thank you! Very helpful.
No problem
Worth noting that both Middlebury and Colby have 4-1-4 academic calendars.
Correct! For some reason I omitted that from my Middlebury description.
Another reason your friend likely found similarities between Colby and Dartmouth is that the primary architect for Colby’s Mayflower Hill campus, Jens F. Larson, was the architect-in-residence at Dartmouth before designing Colby’s campus. The centerpieces of both campuses look remarkably similar–Colby’s Miller Library was modeled after Dartmouth’s Baker-Berry Memorial Library, which in turn was modeled after Independence Hall in Philadelphia. Both campuses prominently feature Georgian-style architecture arranged around quads. Colby’s campus is a relative baby among its NESCAC peers. The oldest building on Colby’s campus was built in 1938. Compare that to the oldest extant buildings at:
Williams: 1790
Bowdoin: 1802
Middlebury: 1816
Amherst: 1821
Bates: 1857
What is the chance of getting into Middlebury college with 4A* in A levels, and with other tons of ecs as international student.
No use asking now! You will find out in three days. Best of luck.
Portal is saying 8am EST on the 27th.
Eek!
My portal doesn’t say that… oh well, I guess they forgot about me
I was looking at the portal and there is a statement at the bottom that says “verify Address,” just below the decision release date. Was that always there? Is it for everyone??
yes it was
