Middlebury Commons

Hey there!

Any current Midd students or other anxious incoming freshman have any insight to picking commons? I want to be in Atwater so badly, but blindly getting placed in a dorm based on the FYSE really scares me. Does anyone know if Midd has patterns to placing students in commons?

Well, my son lived thru a year in Battell…don’t sweat the small stuff. There’s about 8000 people who wish they were in your shoes.

It’s random… FY seminar classes associated with a commons one year probably won’t be associated with the same commons another year. There are pros and cons to all of the commons! My daughter also survived Battell

What is Battell?

Battell is the largest freshman dorm- One side houses the Cook Commons and the other side houses the Wonnacott Commons. It’s an old building!

It’s cinderblock construction, small rooms, not many bathrooms-my son used to shower in the athletic center. However, after that, he lived in proverbial “dorms like palaces”. My older son felt like(as he went down the corridors in his jammies to breakfast) “I’m living in a luxury hotel.” He was the Feb, they get better housing because they are in rooms vacated by upperclassmen.
