Middlebury RD 2021

Accepted! Good luck to anyone else who wasn’t as lucky. I KNOW that you will find a perfect fit for what you are looking for independently from Middlebury’s decision!

I also got accepted! I’m so excited :)!

ACCEPTED!!! is there an official middlebury class of 2021 facebook group?

Accepted! My LAC first choice

Accepted. It has been a good week. Got into Williams, Swarthmore, Middlebury, and Colby.

^ and can we assume from your name that you are off to Williams? Congrats!!

@londondad a lot of schools are “growing” a Spring admit group. It appears to mostly be offered to those who might be on the fringes statistically, but made an impression on the admissions committee. I don’t have any stats on it, but I would also tend to believe those offered Spring admission won’t be asking for financial aid (a hunch on my part).

The reason schools like the program, is that a much larger percentage of students taking a semester abroad do so in the spring, opening beds and class space that the school can fill with “new” students.

Rejected… Accepted by BU…

@jackwang0703 Same here

@londondad and @EyeVeee, Middlebury has had a spring admissions program longer than most schools. It’s been so popular for so long because of Middlebury’s strong focus on international studies. So many students spend at least one semester abroad that it makes it easier for the school to use their campus housing more efficiently. There is NO difference qualitatively between the regs (fall admits) and Febs (spring admits). Think about it, Middlebury could fill their freshman class several times over with qualified applicants. They don’t need to lower their standards for the Febs. The belief is that Febs may be better suited to adapting to the mid-year start. When I graduated from Middlebury there were Febs going on to Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, and MIT for grad school - and those are only the ones I can remember. The best part of being a Feb is graduating on skis at the snow bowl. Sports illustrated listed that as the best college sports tradition in the country years ago

@urbanslaughter and @eyevee Thanks. DD was admitted as a Feb and her stats are above the 50th percentile but she does have a very large personality so that probably makes her a good fit for a Feb.

ACCEPTED!!! and got into bowdoin last night- this is all so surreal!

Accepted!

Congratulations! Negatory here.

rejected, oh welllll

Is there a group chat for us admitted students?

Accepted but rejected to BU. genuinely shocked about BU

Accepted, which is awesome because I was waitlisted by Bowdoin yesterday. I will probably be attending Middleburh next year unless I am accepted to one of my more far reach schools.

Accepted, but devastated since I was chosen as a Feb admit despite saying that I preferred September admission and that only interested in that. My family members are deans, professors, alumni and students at Middlebury, and they wrote me letters of recommendation to the dean of admissions since he is a family friend, but I’m utterly shocked that they didn’t honor my request. I guess it wasn’t the place for me, even though I loved the school and would absolutely attend if I got September admissions since I would play soccer and I can’t take an entire year off of soccer and then Join the team and contribute to the extent as I could of. Hope my spot can go to someone who really wanted to go to midd as much as I did.

@georgia101, sorry and surprised that this happened. Maybe a mistake? You might want to write an email and explain or call up and do it on the phone. Although you sound kind of like maybe you are over the whole thing and would rather go somewhere else? See how you feel on Monday. Good that you have the weekend to let it sit. Still it does feel kind of crappy. I’m sure.
