Middlesex

Hi-
This school seems very selective but I haven't heard much about it. Anyone know anything? Any current students out there?

yes i go to mx.

my son goes there and prepparent's daughter is there. ask away!

Regarding Middlesex: Why did you choose it? What other schools were you looking at? Is there a good sense of community, nice students, good teachers?

I just don't know much about it but we did have an admissions person come to our town. He seemed very down to earth. Then I did some research and it seemed quite selective and academic.

I wouldn't say down to earth and selective/academic are mutually exclusive!
The faculty are very warm and approachable. everyone seems to know everyone else, and it does not seem to be an issue coming in other than a freshman. we know a girl who transferred (from deerfield) as a junior and she is already quite happy.

I go to Middlesex and I love it.

Middlesex, made from the best things on earth.

Middlesex, has a happy student body, a happy faculty that is caring and yes, it is strong in academics. If you're for a smaller school Middlesex is hard to beat

Middlesex "promoted" themselves to my son's class as strong academically wihtout the "pressure cooker" environment. Don't know how true that is, but that they (or least one admissions person) view themselves.

Thanks for posting information about Middlesex. It is one of the schools that we haven't quite decided on. It was originally elimated because I was told that they didn't offer much FA. (not sure if that is true or not)

How important are athletics in general at Middlesex?

My d graduate last year. The fine arts program is strong - they do a summer arts program every year I believe. The theater is tremendous, great music. An incredible AP art history course. Look at their facilities, talk to the faculty. Every student has to engrave a wood plaque before graduation, they are all displayed from the first graduating class on through. I find it hard to describe how wonderful the Mx experience was for my daughter. It was a rigorous, challenging educational experience. As for sports, they are a part of the community but there are third teams that have a lot of energy and fun and there are non-team options you can do. It seems that for some kids, although they dread sports when they arrive, they find their place and great fun. I would take a serious look at Mx - a wonderful school.
