<p>So, I am applying SCEA to Yale and am currently filling out the supplement. None of my relatives graduated from Yale, but one of my grandparents was a professor in one of the graduate schools for quite a significant period of time. Is this appropriate to list on the application where it asks which of my relatives graduated? Or should I just leave it off? Thanks!</p>

<p>I’ll take this time to point out that the most noticeable benefit of being a legacy applicant is if you get stuck on the wait-list. In that case, they’re more likely to take you on, given that there’s space, but in general, the benefit is akin to maybe a 2% bonus question on a test.</p>
<p>Don’t know if there’s any empirical evidence for what Kalid Attalla asserts. As far as being the child of an employee/staff/faculty, it only matters if the parent is a current employee. But it won’t hurt to list your grandparent was a former employee/staff/faculty if there’s a spot for that. But like others said, you’re not a legacy, specifically.</p>
