<p>What exactly qualifies as "legacy" status? Is it like, parents and grandparents went to Yale, or is it any close relative?
My older sister graduated in 2003, does that count?</p>

<p>If you look at the Y supplement, they first ask for parents, step parents and grandparents who attended Y. Then they go on to ask for information about other relatives who have attended Y. I’m not sure why they make this separation, as they ask for the same information for both groups. </p>
<p>My D says she knows of a lot of kids that were admitted and had siblings who also attended Y. She thinks they prefer sibs because they’re more likely to attend. Another unreplicated, non-random case study ;).</p>
<p>The space provided for “other relatives” is quite small. W’s family is full of Yale grads and S2 ran out of room, while D did not 5 years ago.</p>
