Migratory Habits of Young Applicants

Why is the parent's forum attracting so many students? Seasonal perhaps? Do they fly away April through October? Just curious...

Because the parents are more likely to give good advice?

Most of the kids who post here want to hear reassuring words from adults - the advice of other kids can only go so far. Every year we seem to have a number who become very close to the parents on the board and really become part of the parents board in a great way. I actually have kept in touch with several who are now off at school as freshman and sophomores and it is always terrific to hear from them.

For OPs, I agree C, but recently, there have been quite a number of students posting reassuring words--or not so reassuring, "oppositional" as the case may be.

Is this migratory?

R--Sorry I missed your T.

I actually wrote and deleted a thread starter about this. I think most of the kids that come "on board" are as Carolyn describes. Then, there are a subset, who at times, choose to become "oppositional" or "irksome". We are all parents of teenagers, we have all dealt with this behavior in our own children at various times- but we are more invested in maintaining a relationship with our own children than we are in doing so with the kids on the board. I have no trouble "ignoring" what I cannot change!
