Has anyone every had one of these sent? Any other ideas for how to send a birthday cake to a ds who lives on the other side of the country? Really wanting suggestions where folks have had actual, good experiences.
Also - I’ve never had a Milk Bar cake - are they any good?
I’m seeking yummy cake with a good delivery experience.
We’ve had GREAT experiences with shipping Milk Bar cakes. They are absolutely delicious and worth every penny.
We just ordered one for Father’s Day (the new waffle cone pie).
They are shipped with cold packs but will need to go into the fridge upon arrival. Will be fine sitting out for a few hours but I wouldn’t leave it over night so make sure the recipient knows something perishable is coming.
We’ve had their crack pie (although I think they changed the name of that one to just milk bar pie), their birthday cake, truffle pops, and truffle cookies. Everything has been super! I can report back on the waffle cone pie after Father’s Day if anyone is interested ; )
Whole Foods carry’s their ice cream and truffle cookies. The Ice Cream is the only hit or miss item for me. Some flavors are great, others are just OK.
I never heard of Milk
Bar. When I sent cakes to someone far away, I usually go on FB and find a local foodie group and ask for suggestions of local bakers there.
Amazingly good!! I send them to one relative (20-something young professional). She loves them. I have also had them shipped to my home for H’s birthday. Never had an issue with quality or shipping!
I had a terrible experience with delivery of Milk Bar. Ordered three times, twice a few years back for my D. Twice on the same day because the first one’s gone missing. The second one also got lost. They skipped dessert at the restaurant to eat the birthday cake, certain that it will be there when they get back. They couldn’t screw up twice on the same day, right? Wrong. The third one they got after some complications. My D said it tasted good. If I do it again, I would use grub hub or something similar. Have them pick it up and deliver. What was really frustrating is the customer service is unreachable. Leave a message. We will return your call within 24-48 hours. Two day old birthday cake is not exciting.
Never heard of them. But will order one for DD’s birthday this year. I usually order from a local bakery that delivers to wherever she is that year with mixed results.
Wow—those prices are high. I think I’d do better with a local cake from a local bakery. They look fun tho, don’t trust delivery to HI or added cost to get it here.
I never heard of Milk Bar Cakes. I have always made my own birthday cakes. But this thread reminds me of when my kids were in college in different states. I would bake a rectangular birthday cake and decorate it, but keep it in the pan. Then, I’d find a box very close to the same exact size and put some wrap over the cake and ship it. For a couple years, this turned out great. One year, however, my kid told me the cake was more like a pile of chocolate dirt, LOL, but she and her friends still really liked it! So, then I switched to baking birthday cupcakes that I put in a plastic container and shipped. Once I shipped them all the way to Switzerland when D1 had an internship there for the summer and they arrived in one piece.
