I'm looking to join into the air force, enlisted, and serve my time as Cyber Systems Operations and will have earned 23 college credits. After my 8 years, I will then pursue a bachelor in computer science and masters in engineering.

I have also considered going into the air force as a Pharmacy Specialist, serve 8 years. Pursuing a masters of science in chemical engineering. Just briefly going over my plans, not in detail.

But I'm also in Track and Football, and will be given scholarships for track. So I haven't decided what I want to do if I go into college first with the same desires. I have only considered going into the military first, then college.

This is a very difficult thing for me to decide over. I have no one in my school who knows what they're going to do with their life in 20 years. So I'm skeptical to just go asking around what I should do, when no one knows what they want to do.

Why is it you’ve been considering military first and then college after? What advantages do you think it provides? Indeed, there must be something that brings you to this consideration.

With a track scholarship I would advise to prioritize the things you want to accomplish. For example, do you want to continue your track career in college and keep dedicating a portion of your time to that, or do you feel you’re done with athletics and would rather get a jump start in your career with the military experience you can gain?

Telling us a little more of what you want out of each outcome can help in guiding in the discussion, but you’re absolutely correct that this will be a big decision for this time in your life.

Most track scholarships are partials so you probably won’t get a full ride. If you just want to serve then fine. You can go in either direction (get commissioned after graduating or enlist and then get a degree). Both AFSCs you are considering are good.
