Minimal Change in Stanford SCEA Numbers (Wall Street Journal)

It definitely has to do with geography. At least around where I live on the East coast, most of the Harvard and Princeton kids are now applying to Yale EA. Since many of the Californians were going to apply to Stanford as their first choice anyway, the numbers haven't shifted too much from last year. A lot of schools on the East Coast, though not as "prestigious" as Harvard or Princeton, are also taking in many more kids because of the geographical factor.

What are the admit/defer/reject ratios for EA?

steve, I heard that Stanford accepts 8-9% from the EA pool, defers only a handful. Who knows if this number includes athletic recruits or not.

However, their EA applicant number went down this year.

^No...I heard Stanford accepts about 16% early and that the EA applicant number went up, but just barely.

yeah, I think 8-9% is for RD...I was thinking it would be more like ~19% for EA. correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, I heard 18.9 or something. It's nearly 20, but not quite.

For legacies, I've heard the admit rate is doubled. Does that mean it's ~40% for EA?
