Minnesota CSE: Cooperative and helping or cut-throat competition?

Hello, this is my first post here

I’m curious if student body in Minnesota CSE is more of cooperative and helping each other vibe, or is it more of cut-throat competition and survival of the fittest?

Every man for himself, or study groups?

My son is a senior in CSE and is at home this weekend. His immediate response when I read him your post was that CSE students are extremely cooperative. Then he said that many CSE students by nature are not extremely outgoing, so you may have to initiate the conversation and that once you do… all is good!

CSE freshman here. If it was possible to have a cutthroat college, nobody here got that memo. Ask anybody in any class you have to work on problem sets together, or join anybody who’s working on them in one of the dorm lobbies, and people will be happy to work together. Same thing with lab writeups. Cooperation is kind of a part of the culture.
