I really like my new hose reel/box bought recently at Ace Hardware store. I use it in the front yard, where we have a small diameter hose that used to get just curled back into a big hose bowl. Because this hose fairly short and light, it’s a snap to wind back up. (In the backyard I have longer, larger diameter hose on a big reel - ugh, that’s lots more work. But at least now things are more manageable out front.) My only regret is not having gotten something like this years ago when my mom’s hobby was tending to our gardens.
It was a bit of a splurge. Lucky for me we encountered it prior to Mother’s Day.
Also can’t do without my Dyson Animal cordless vac.
Singulair was a miracle drug for me. I developed severe allergies in my late twenties when I moved out west. I took allergy shots and that helped for 10 years and then when I moved from NM to ID I started have terrible coughing fits that broke blood vessels in the whites of my eyes during allergy attacks. I was diagnosed with cough variant asthma and prescribed Singulair and it truly was a miracle.
Finally, I can’t live without Crocs around the house. Here are a pair my daughter bought me last summer. Love them!
Definitely allergy meds! For me, it’s the nasocort/Flonase plus the zrytec and allergy eye drops. I was remarking to someone how before these drugs were available, I would sneeze literally 50 times in a row after a shower every morning. It was exhausting! And I’d sleep at night with tissues stuffed up my nose so it wouldn’t run down my face in the night. It’s a wonder my kids were born!
But for this thread, the chom chom pet remover for upholstery. I use it every week and get a softball sized ball of fur every time. I’m sure that’s helped my allergies some too since I’m allergic to our furr balls
Lung meds and allergy nasal sprays, plus portable oxygen concentrators allow me to have a great life. Allergy control barriers have also made a world of difference in combatting dust and dust mite allergies.
There are different qualities of rice cookers too. The zojirushi we have is great—it has a timer that will make the grain you want perfectly prepared for the time you want. We are very fond of this rice cooker, more than the many others we have had over the decades.
Very helpful thread; always get good ideas. Thanks!
Love Zojirushi water bottles. Fantastic insulation, no leaks and comes apart for easy cleaning. If a non-water beverage sits in it for too long, white vinegar soak after washing it helps. Ice water has stayed cold for over 12 hours. Also like that lid easily pops open with one hand and can be locked.
Hope’s Perfect Kitchen Cleaner is streak free on granite and quartz counter tops, cleans oven glass, tile, stainless steel and faucets well, too. Great for bathroom mirrors, counters and sinks, too. Family members are very sensitive to scents and this one doesn’t cause problems here:
If anyone knows of a miracle product for cleaning a ceramic cook top, please share…we had a pot of jam boil over, and we cannot get all of the gunk off—it appears to be harder than concrete!
I’ve seen metal scraper on amazon, but are afraid that may easily damage the stove top surface.
Miracle product for me is Carbona Oil and Grease Stain Remover. The stuff is great—it’s the only thing that actually gets out oil, grease—food stains on clothes. I used to be able to find it in my local grocery store but the store stopped carrying it. I checked other places to no avail. I now buy it online.
You’re talking to a woman with 3 different size pressure cookers!
I had outlets added to my island to support all my cooking appliances used to create one meal.
I am a tea drinker. We have a couple of zojirushi flasks. I made the mistake of brewing my tea in the flask. Drove off with my flask, forgot about it, and 8 hours later decided to see if the tea was still warm. I literally scalded my tongue. Perhaps a bit too much of a miracle, haha.
For interested people: Don’t put freshly brewed or boiled drinks in. Let it cool to the temp you want it to be when you drink it.
If it’s jam that boiled over pour really hot water on the surface of the cook top and let it sit for a few minutes. I have a thin, flexible metal spatula that I like to use to scrape ours. It doesn’t seem to damage it. Helps that ours is black, so there may be minor things that we don’t notice.
Weiman Glass Cooktop Cleaner is AMAZING. I just looked at the bottle and it says it works on ceramic as well. This stuff removes cooked on food and restores the cooktop to a “like new” shine.
A sample bottle came with my new range, and I’m a convert. (,now missionary! )
