So, my son is trying to decided between Pace and Fordham. Two completely different programs in my opinion but I feel could be a fit for him either way. He has had lots of connection with the Pace staff and students up to this point. Yesterday was a visit day for Fordham. He took off school and headed up on the train for the day.

He was bummed that it was just a generic day no focus on the theater program. He even asked about Theater stuff at the admissions check in. He had a long talk with the Dean; who supposedly was calling around to try to get in touch with people in the department with no luck. He came home as confused as ever; he really likes Fordham but feels he needs to connect more to try to sort out his feelings. Something that didn't happen yesterday.

I decided that it was weird that all the other school have had multiple contact with my son and arranged all kinds of meetings that included visits to classes. So, I called Fordham. I received a call back from from Eva Patton. Turns out yesterday they had all kinds of stuff for the theater kids to do and she sent an email separate from the admissions office regarding attending the events. I said I didn't know if my S actually received it or not but he specifically asked lots of people yesterday if there was something separate for the accepted theater students....the Dean even made phone calls but nobody knew anything. She felt really bad and emailed him info so that if he wasn't to try to get up there in the next 2 weeks or skype with anybody he can.

I relayed the info to my son...he went through his emails and spam and never found the original email. Not sure what caused the miscommunication but he is very frustrated. He wants to make an informed choice but is running out of time...

Fingers crossed that hopefully in the midst of lots of end of year projects, his spring production on the weekends of 20th and 27th he can find time to revisit for a hands on look or at least skype....

kcdunlap, my daughter spent yesterday with the theater department at Fordham. She attended several classes and really loved it. Maybe your son could arrange to go back and sit in on classes another day. The way my daughter arranged it was that she emailed them and they suggested the 12th. We did not know in advance that that was also a day for all accepted students. She got a very warm feeling from the faculty and students at Fordham. They seem to be very personable. I hope your son gets another chance to visit!

Yeah some how he never got the email they set about yesterday. Eva said they had 10 or more students yesterday going through classes and meeting people.

We are hoping he can make it back up there but every minute is so tight between now and the end of the month we are just praying we can make it work.

My son spent a full day with the theatre program/classes/students when he visited last year, and it was not on the scheduled day. Eva is very accommodating in those regards, and if your son is still considering Fordham, he needs to do this. In the end he went somewhere else but it was between Fordham and his current school. It’s a big decision, and sounds like yesterday was just a total mess up on everyone’s part. Good luck!

Fingers crossed Eva looks at her emails this weekend. We figured out at about 5:30pm last night (Friday) that we could make Monday work for a visit on our side. Just hoping she listens to her voicemail or email and we can make it work…

Well it took a few days juggling my sons schedule but we finally have a meet with Fordham on Friday. Good thing his school decided to have IOWAs on Friday…he won’t miss any actual classes. Then he gets to come home Friday afternoon and have opening night of Fiddler on the Roof…It’s going to be a long day but I’m sure worth it so he can make an informed choice.
