Missouri State Admitted Students Day

@collegeboundSam We are flying out of Newark and connecting in Atlanta to Springfield. Just hoping the flight(s) aren’t delayed. A lot of delays tonight due to weather.

Good luck getting there. At least you have an extra day to get there. Can’t wait to hear your daughters and your reactions and feelings about the school.

We just finished, and she committed! The one thing that kept shining through was “fun”! These kids work hard and are honestly having a blast! So thrilled to be through with this journey!

@4angels wooohoooo!

Congrats @4angels it’s so wonderful to have a decision made! Another darling girl we know committed yesterday too. It’s gonna be great BFA Class.

@Kkrazie @lithpool It is a special place! We have zero doubts! The students really sold it for her! It’s a fit!

@kkrazie @lithpool is there a parent group on Facebook for MSU BFA parents?

@4angels Sorry…I haven’t any idea…(I haven’t even found my S’s FB school group! LOL)

I don’t think so on Facebook parent page. I know kids create their own group chats. Especially after BFA classes are announced on social media.

@Kkrazie , @lithpool , @mtmom1967 , @4angels , @pegski, @gatorbridget, @triixxie , @RosaMT , HI everyone, Congrats on the decisions to attend Mo State. After such a long, frustrating, joyful audition season, I am proud to announce that my S has committed to attending Western Carolina School of Stage and Screen, BFA MT class of 2023. This is such a relief to be over and the joy on his face when he made his final decision, and how he knew “the fit” was right within a short time during his visit.

It as weird, because I truly thought only a week ago that he would be a “Bear”. Funny how things can change in a week. He was wait listed at Western in NOVEMBER, and got the call only 2 weeks ago. I think he always held a candle for that school from the beginning, and when he got the acceptance and a visit, it just blew him away. He called Bob and Bob was so gracious, wishing him luck in a great program, and hoping they would artistically meet again. You have a great leader there and we wouldn’t have gone wrong going to Missouri State as well. Best wishes to all and THANK YOU.

@collegeboundSam Congrats to your son!

@collegeboundSam CONGRATULATIONS!! I was giving up on anything feeling like a true fat. It is so good that these kids have all found their homes!

Finally have a moment to post and let everyone know that my daughter committed to MSU MT!!! We had an amazing trip last week to MSU. We flew in from NJ on Saturday. We arrived in the afternoon and after checking in, spent some time checking out Springfield and had dinner right in the center of downtown. We spent Easter Sunday checking out the area some more and took our own tour of campus. The campus was quiet, as most of the students were home on their holiday break. It was a perfect spring day and the campus was beautiful. Trees, lawns, fountains, flowers blooming. On Monday my daughter had a full day planned, which included 2 acting classes, a dance class, meeting with Bob, and a tour of the theater building. My husband and I sat in on her meeting and toured the building with her. We, as everyone has been, were very impressed with his dedication to the program and the students and his vision. I asked him why my daughter should come to Missouri, over other schools located in big cities. He went on to talk about his connections, the Showcase week in NYC, and the alumni network of MSU students. His career and connections are truly amazing. Having Joe Price as department head and Lisa Brescia on faculty just adds to the overall strength of the program and industry connections. My daughter had lunch with a current student and overall had a great day on campus. The next day we had a campus tour scheduled in the morning, but our flight wasn’t until the evening. My daughter asked to sit in on another dance class, as she is considering a dance minor. Kathleen arranged for her to watch a jazz class after our morning tour. The tour was great, and included a look at two different dorms. Kathleen also arranged for my D to have a private voice lesson. I sat in on the lesson also and was extremely impressed. The voice instructor is the head of the opera dept. She talked with us for a bit about the program, voice lessons, etc. and then had my D sing and worked with her on some technique. She too was very warm and welcoming, and my daughter loved her lesson. After the voice lesson we watched the jazz class. @4angels was also there with her daughter. My D loved the class. The kids were amazing, but also looked like they were having so much fun! After the class a few of the kids came over to talk to us. They were all so helpful and welcoming. They were from all over - Virginia, New Hampshire, California, Texas. I think this made my daughter feel better - since we are from NJ. Overall I think my daughter felt she truly fit in at MSU. She was accepted to several other programs, three of which are in big cities. Although she loves the city, she wants a traditional college experience. The beautiful campus, welcoming faculty and students, the town of Springfield, and the amazing MT program all make MSU a perfect choice. I will admit we are all somewhat concerned about the distance, as we never thought she would go away so far. However, the great tuition allows us to travel to see her to be at any performances etc. We will miss her terribly, but we would rather have her happy and thriving, then close by and not in the right place for her. We were told to “trust the process” and although it was a long and crazy journey, it lead her to MSU. We can’t wait for the next step and for those of you who will be at MSU we can’t wait to see you there! Best of luck to all!

HI, I am so happy for you and your daughter @mtmom1967 . It was great meeting you and your husband and daughter at auditions. Break a leg at MSU, it is a great program. It was so hard for my S to choose between Missouri and Western Carolina, and it came down to those 2 schools, as it did come down to 2 schools for you guys as well (as well as some other parents I know as well). I know these great kids will be happy and well trained at wherever they found their “fit”. Best wishes.

@mtmom1967 Congratulations on finding your D’s fit!!

@collegeboundSam Thank you! Congrats to your son too! It sounds like he found his perfect fit too! It was great to meet you and compare notes along the way! Best of luck with everything!

Congrats @mtmom1967 It was a tough choice for us as well. So glad that she loves her future home and I truly feel like Bob will be an amazing mentor to all the MSU kids. Woohoo

@mtmom1967 - congratulations! Nice to have the decision made! I’m at MSU now for a quick weekend visit…D is at her costume fitting for Grease right now, then picking me up for brunch before I fly back to Chicago. It sounds like you had a great visit, and that your D’s voice lesson was with my D’s voice teacher - she’s really great!

Sorry that they didn’t get a chance to meet up while you were there - I’m sure your D will love her new home next year! Keep me posted…

My son sadly did not get a spot :frowning: We discovered MSU too late in the game and offers had already gone out. Robert released him last week with acceptances rolling in. Truly felt the most comfortable sending him here but that’s life in this crazy adventure. He is headed to Columbia Chicago which makes me a bit nervous as you see nothing of the school on here, but he loved it first and received hefty scholarship offers. He absolutely loves the big city, so I was surprised how he took to MSU. He was really down last week, but finally getting excited and looking forward. You all were a wealth of information and support. Thank you!! Best of luck to your kiddos!

@pegski my D has a friend going to Columbia in Chicago and fell in love with their music program as well! Congrats! @mtmom1967 it was so great to meet you! They are going to have a terrific year!
