Your parents will have to send in the signature page to the FAFSA if they are not us citizens/permanent residents because they will not be able to sign on line
They are citizens/permanent residents. Am I right about the question I stated above? " I am basically filling that out to show as a proof that they earn no money right? "
Also do I need it for both parents or one?
you will have to include the income assets of both parents on the FAFSA. you are going to end up having a low income verification.
Since they both have social security numbers follow this to order the non-filrs statements for 2014 (you are going to need them)
https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506t.pdf
have them check the box, verification of non-filing. Have them both do one as proof that they didnot file taxes. Have them do this part ASAP. you will probably have to do it again over the summer to finalize your financial aid package
So in that form, they only have to check that verification of non-filing and put 2014 for the “year or period requested”. Once they do this, do we mail it? If so, where? My father isn’t in this country right now, which is another problem. I put $0 income for my parents on Fafsa. Do you know if the SSA has to verify the FSA ID first and only then I will be able to submit my fafsa? or can I just submit now? Is there anything else, any other forms I may need to fill out for EOP, fafsa, etc?
If you put 0 income they’ll have to explain how they live on that.
@“Erin’s Dad” So would mailing a letter to FAFSA explaining how they live work?
No you will mail the non filers for to the irs. They wil send your is rents back the non filers statement Once it comes to your house you wil submit it to the financial aid offices of the schools that ask for it along with other information that they ask for
Are both of your is rents out of the country? How long has he been gone and when will he be back. Is your mom her in NY?
Which one of your stents are filing the FAFSA. They also need a FAFSA ID
They will send back the non filers statement? So I only check that part right where it says non filers statement? He has been gone for 6 months+ now and he will be back in 2 months. Yes, my mother is here. My mother is filing the fafsa, and I helped her make the FSA ID
Yes, they will mail the non-filers transcript back to the name of the person requesting it.
We are back in school now. I am highly recommending that you meet with your GC who can help guide you through this process
Alright, I understand the process but can only my mother show the non-filing statement or my dad has to do it too?
they school may ask for both of them
