Can someone answer some of my questions about EOP?

Does EOP only look at your parents income or also your brothers income?
Should I only put the income of the brother I’m dependent on or the income of other people in the house?
If the colleges end up deciding that I don’t actually qualify, what happens?
Thanks everyone! Hopefully someone helps me out, really confused.

Can someone answer my actual questions?

My parents don’t work and I am dependent on my brother. I have two brothers, one earns much more than the other. But I am dependent on the one that makes less money so can I put the income of just him or I have to put the income of my other brother as well, even though, I am not dependent on him?

Ehike your brother may be supporting you, they will need the income asset information from your parents.

Does your brother live in the household with your parents.

If your parents are not working, it is automatically going to trigger a low income verification where they are going to have to prove how they meet their day to day expenses

Are they on public assistance, SSI, unemployment, etc?

Where are your parents living? Do your parents live in NYS?

If they did not file taxes then you must also submit the IRS non- filers statement.

My recommendation is that you gather your paperwork now. Regarding your brother they will look at a percentage of his income as to supporting you. Each school will request different information.

My mother is dependent on the brother I am dependent on, and my father on my other brother. No, they are not on public assistance because they are dependent on my brothers. They are living here in NY, same house. I don’t understand what the IRS non-filers statement is. So, do I actually qualify? because the amount of money the brother I am NOT dependent on makes, exceeds the EOP household income. But if I don’t include him, then I qualify for sure. The one I and my mother are dependent on does not make a lot of money. Thank you for the help!

They will eventually ask for the nvone information of every one in your household. If both of your brothers live in the house with your parents they will contribute a portion of both of their incomes to the household since they take care of the household.

The school will ask for rent/ mortgage payments household expenses and split the cost by the number of people in the household

Your parents will have to get a copy of the IRS non-filers statesment to prove that they are not required to file taxes. Do your parents have social security numbers or tax ID numbers? Some schools will deem you ineligible until this part is done ( if they worked then you would need a copy of their IRS transcript and use the data retrieval tool)

Oh gee, confusing. I will just wait until they mail and ask what they need.
Thank you guys!
