Mistake with the essay format.. freaking out

On the Common Application submission for the essay, it didn't say anywhere that there needed to be a heading (write your name, birthday, school) on there, so I didn't include it in the essay and submitted. Now I am applying to another school and realized that in the Print Preview of the Common Application it did say that you needed the heading. I tried to change the uploaded document but it won't let me. I can't start an alternate application because it said I had to submit my Supplement Application first and I did so I can't delete the college or start a new one. I'm freaking out because I'm afraid they will penalize me for not following directions... Is the mistake a really big deal or not?

it doesn't sound like a big deal at all, i dont see why they would penalize you for this. and i highly doubt you're the only one who made this mistake.

on another note, where is this "print preview" part of the commonapp?

dude stop freaking it out. The reason that it says so on the print preview page is because, usually when people print preview, they send in hard copies.....

a

yeah.... i did the same thing too. Hope it dosn't matter too much!

i did the same. But if the college really needed it. They would say so on the actual common app and not just on the PDF version.

I looked at my daughter's common application (we printed a copy before submitting it final) because she hadn't put a heading on either. This was different than the print preview! The common app automatically generated the following: at the top it says Personal Essay Upload and has her name and on the bottom it seems to have her number and her name again. I think you don't need to worry.
