MIT 2 competitive?

Is MIT 2 competitive or is it ok? Any help wud be appreciated.

Competitive in what way? Competitive to get in, or competitive once there? Definitely the former, perhaps the latter.

Uhh.. thats a pretty broad question. If you're a girl it's a lot easier to get in than if you're a guy. But yeah, it's still one of the toughest schools in the country to get into. It's definitely the best of the best (in math/science/engineering, mostly) who go there.

MIT 3 competitive, wudnt u say?

MIT's quite competitive to get into, but the student body itself is not competitive. It's really unusual at MIT for students not to work together in large groups to do homework, and it's absolutely unheard of for someone to refuse to help someone else understand a problem or a concept.

MIT is hard, for sure, but not cutthroat in any way. Actually, I would say it's collaborative because it's hard -- MIT students are smart enough to realize that helping other people on a problem set for one class will probably result in other people helping them on a problem set for another class. Problem sets are hard, and it's tough to do them alone, so you gather a big group around you and order a pizza and everybody works together.

I wrote a blog entry on the subject here.

Yes, it is too competitive. I do not see any other school in the world as competitive.

MIT has extremely competitive admissions. It's one of the hardest schools to get into. But if it's a school you love, it's definitely worth it to apply. What's the worst that could happen?

I don't think he was talking about admisions.

MIT's not really competitive, but it's really intense. it's work hard, play hard.

they don't play hard...it's more like

work hard, then work harder, and during finals work the hardest..
