MIT 2016 hopefuls

Since when is QB all about football rajkobie…lol

rajkobie-- Mollie knows what she is talking about.

Questbridge is ENTIRELY different. So few students are accepted through questbridge.

skepticidal-- haha…

rajkobie -

Athletes go through the same process as all other applicants to MIT. They have the same academic standards.

Also…I checked all of the kids we matched through QB. None of them are football players or match that academic profile. So I don’t know where that information is coming from. But it isn’t accurate.

this website is depressing… i just looked at the profiles of indian students accepted last year through early action and i immediately lost any and all hope for admission this year… all i have to say is, goodbye dreams.

@ prateeksach - Don’t worry; this website is extremely biased toward those type of students number wise (i.e. this website isn’t representative of the applicant pool). If you want accurate statistics, go here: [Admissions Statistics | MIT Admissions](Admissions statistics | MIT Admissions)

If you want to learn more about the type of student that goes to MIT, read the blogs on the linked website. Specifically, this one: [No Chance | MIT Admissions](No Chance | MIT Admissions)

umm excuse me people m still waiting for my answer … please reply on completion on ur quest on questbridge … :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:  !!

There’s someone I know who claims that they got into MIT with a 75% athletic scholarship for track. Does MIT give athletic scholarships?

No, the only money given out by MIT is financial aid. There are no athletic scholarships, and there are no merit scholarships.

I am an athletic recruit. A few people from my school last year were recruits, and they all got rejected. Two of them were very (very!!!) smart. So I guess the point is that athletics don’t give you a free pass in admissions. The two current MIT athletes I do know were both valedictorians of high-profile high schools. I guess what I am saying is that the speculation about unqualified athletes going to MIT is false. I am not expecting to get in and not to be pessimistic, but I think most athletic recruits should take the same approach…

Yeeeaahh Techo!
I can’t wait. Let’s build robots and rockets and programs, oh my!

To add to Imagineer’s question, if deferred, will I also be able to make any changes to the essays that I submitted or submit new essays altogether?

Imagineer, yes. But only do it if you think that his representation will be revealing of some new aspect of your personality.

Doyomach, no. Your application is set in stone at this point :/. (Save for any supplemental material you’d like to submit, of course.)

Less than 24 hours! I wish I could sleep that long and just wake up at 11:15 tomorrow…

Lol I’m the only kid in my school to have applied to MIT in the last 4 years and all my friends who don’t really know MIT are like you’ll get in!!! But really…haha

cortana- Are you waiting to see if you got into MIT before you withdraw your application?

Lol mine will be at 9:17 O_o unbelievably nervous hahaha

Today, one of my friends told me I should marathon watch one of my favorite shows to distract me. I watched The Big Bang Theory. Bad decision - TOO MANY CHARACTERS FROM MIT.

ArduinoMan - W00T!
onehundred - Lol, I’m marathon watching Torchwood (Doctor Who spinoff!) XD
I got accepted to GA Tech today. So now I’ve secured my safety school, but tomorrow is the big day! Less than 20 hours! AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH

^Sort of. Financial aid is a pretty big deal for my parents, so they want to get enough aid from Cornell and make sure attending it is affordable before sending in the deposit and having me withdraw all my other applications. But even if my parents did have enough money, I would just wait to hear from MIT anyway, just to know if I got in or not.

@onehundred I feel your pain. Big Bang Theory —> MIT references
