MIT Chances? 2 Years into High School (Junior next year)

Hello, thanks in advance for reading this!

I’m looking to try to get into MIT with 2 more years to go in High school.
Freshman Year GPA: 96.27
Sophomore Year GPA: 93.68

EC:Very poor (quite shy), I do have around 250+ hours of volunteering although I think it’ll be impossible for me to get signed proof since I never asked in the past. I lived on military base, dad just retired this year, volunteered since 9. I’m planning to join Public Speaking, and possibly some others that involve technology. Participated in Wrestling and Track since Freshman year for each. I’ve taken a Electricity and Robotics class since we have no Club for it: weird right? Planning to do some coding and hopefully make a game in my free time (if that even matters).

I’m planning to take 3 AP next year and some other honors classes

IF I was to reach the GPA I got in Freshman year or better what are the chances of me getting into MIT?
and I’m guessing my SAT and ACT would have to be near perfect

-(Btw does race actually affect acceptance chances? I’ve heard it does because… diversity?)
-And I’m taking a 1/2 year Economic class(graduation requirement) and 1/2 year SAT prep: Should I take a Computer Auto drafting class and AP Economics Senior year? I know this is personal choice, I’m just wondering if a SAT Prep class is worth it.

Thanks again

Couldn’t edit my post but, both GPA’s are weighted just so you know

The GPAs are weighted?
Even if they were unweighted and you got a 100 in the next two years, you would be falling on the lower fringes of what gets accepted at MIT.
And then, there are the test scores as yet unproven.

I don’t believe in SAT prep courses for good students. If you are deficient in some way, like not being much of a reader, then you definitely should get prepped. Otherwise, it’s enough to take two or three practice tests and become familiar with the format and logic.

Where are you in math?

Yes they are weighted… Didn’t think I was apparently that dumb. I’m taking Pre-Calc next year

You are taking Pre-Cal in 11th grade? Seems like it should’ve been taken in 10th. Anyway, apply to the summer programs at MIT after Junior year. The applications open in January. If you get into one of their programs, it helps your chances.

What majors are you interested in and what other colleges are you considering?

Okay, and for how my school it set up Pre-Calc is usually a senior class, I had to take two math classes to get to Pre-Calc Junior year because I wasn’t “smart enough” to take algebra 1 in 8th grade (It’s decided by 6th grade)

Mostly thinking about Engineering and Computer Science (I’m still a little open about what I wan’t to do specifically in engineering but, I have a more specific idea)

For schools I’m thinking schools like, RIT, Wentworth Institute of Technology, Stevens Institute of Technology, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and others for example Quinnipiac and Loyola

You are right to look at the AITU schools. MIT is tough to get into simply because the competition is so fierce. You can have a great application but they only accept about 10% of their applicants. It is not a question of being “dumb” it is just a numbers game.

You should look at the other, smaller AITU schools which have a higher acceptance rate. They often will provide good meerit aid too. The education there is just as rigorous as an MIT but they are not everyone’s first choice and so must admit a higher percentage of their applicants.

“Didn’t think I was apparently that dumb…”

It’s not that you’re that dumb. You’re not. But getting into MIT is just that difficult, that competitive.
