MIT chances affected if already accepted by other premier schools?

Ben -

If you get a likely acceptance letter from another premier college, will the MIT adcom know, and will this undermine chances of getting in since MIT's selection takes place later? (especially for internationals) Once again, thanks for answering my questions Ben:-)

Getting a likely from another good college is so bittersweet when your dream school is MIT and you don't want chances to be affected... It's like "oh cool!" and then "uh-oh what about MIT?"

Come on, mit_hopefulgirl. Clearly from your SN, it shows that you want to go to MIT! Oh and you are an RSI alumnus, so why worry? GL.

gee h88 you've been reading my other posts? I was just wondering how much schools exchange info regarding acceptance lists anyway... and I'm worried because there're like only 100 places for internationals at MIT? Am just afraid that the adcom would be reluctant to admit an international who's been accepted elsewhere.

Btw, RSI isn't an admission guarantee, and that's all the more so for internationals! BAh=(

h88, you're applying to college at 16? Wow...

Reluctant to admit you because you were accepted elsewhere? I don't think so. I do understand your reasoning, however. MIT Admissions is in its final stages now, so I doubt they would know about your admissions letter, unless they were notified? But I highly doubt it will affect your chances.

I think you're pretty smart judging from the posts I've read. :P

What college was it?

Absolutely not.

I'm no admissions official (so Ben can give the official stamp to this thread later when he stops by) but I'm certain it will have absolutely no bearing on your decision. Best of luck to you :)

Hey- of course you can be 16. I am 16- people born in 1988 are probably 16. But I will be 17 by the time decisions come!

No worries, we have no idea where else anyone has been accepted. :-)

Ooh that's nice, thanks everyone!=)
