I don't think you'll make it - a kid from my school applied to MIT two years ago w/ about a 3.8 out of a max 4 (unweighted), a 1590 SAT. He was captain of the Computer Science team and 1st in the state in the state computer science competition, 1st in the school and one of only 2 qualifiers in the school for a national math exam, which he ended up doing very well on. Last year, an amazing student from my school who had a 1580 SAT, about 3.88 GPA, and great credentials in track AND computer science got deferred early admission and accepted regular.

braves... you never stated whether the first guy got in or not... and that info doesnt really help here. we've got a hispanic w/ a respectable 1400, depending on his grades/class rank your "friend" ;) may just make it... needs to be in the top 2-5% really for any chance.
