thanks

From your ECs..I'm wondering "Why MIT?" I don't see anything that says you want to go there....

Also, was your 205 enough for the National hispanic Scholar? (is that what its called?)

sr6622.. What kind of ECs would say that you want to go to MIT?

umm my friend ended up getting a 1980 new SAT.. and whats with the ECs question?

and i would assume that he was the hispanic scholar.. i dont think u need too high of a score for that honor

ECs question....

Probably something concerned with math/physics/comp.sci/engineering...science things in general.

he went to YSP summer program at FSU

im thinking no chance...what do others think?

i hope that is sarcasm coolness...

I like how he did the summer program and whatnot...

In this case the only other question is his financial situation,,,

Is he a first generation, or does he come from a low income family?

URM with a 1400?

Id say he can get in almost anywhere he applies if he is top 5% of his class

I don't think you'll make it - a kid from my school applied to MIT two years ago w/ about a 3.8 out of a max 4 (unweighted), a 1590 SAT. He was captain of the Computer Science team and 1st in the state in the state computer science competition, 1st in the school and one of only 2 qualifiers in the school for a national math exam, which he ended up doing very well on. Last year, an amazing student from my school who had a 1580 SAT, about 3.88 GPA, and great credentials in track AND computer science got deferred early admission and accepted regular.

I doubt either of those were URMs

Yeah, I doubt those guys are URMs.

That first guy was probably a USAMO qualifier, which, I feel, is a good boost in admissions.

braves... you never stated whether the first guy got in or not... and that info doesnt really help here. we've got a hispanic w/ a respectable 1400, depending on his grades/class rank your "friend" ;) may just make it... needs to be in the top 2-5% really for any chance.

URM doesn't help as much at MIT as it does at other Top schools, simply b/c they get a very large pool of URM applicants.

he is ranked 15 out of 650, first generation college student of cuban descent.. not wealthy but not poor..
