MIT Class of 2021 Applicants

@aabraham I got nothing like that. I applied RD however.

Is there any person who is being asked a late interview from MIT? My EC contacted me to have an interview this week.

@dongrae probably not — you were supposed to contact MIT for an interview, not the other way around. The alum probably noticed you still didn’t contact them, so decided to contact you.

@VenomBuds. Thank you

One month left!

Guys, I just got through with my interview. It’s been about 4 days. Will the report be considered or was it too late?

@RibaldFlotsam It depends — it might be too late, and it might not be. Just hope for the best :slight_smile:

Since there isn’t a correct way to fill out the FUN form, theoretically we can write about anything that has happened so far in our life right? Like as long as it’s not inappropriate, no topic is exactly stupid or uninteresting right?

@anonymous261 The way I understand it, yes. If it updates it’s FUN worthy.

Yo, guys, when we fill in our stats next month, I think it would be a good idea to put whether our GPAs were calculated with mid-letter marks, or just whole letters.
Some schools do:
A = 4, B = 3, C = 2
And some do:
A = 4, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B=3.0 B- = 2.7

Which one your school uses can obvious have a big impact. A 3.7 student at the second type of school would have a 4.0 at the first, and a 3.0 student could have a 3.3 at the second.

Think info could add some much needed context to grade comparison. When considering what is acedemicaoly qualified, I’m sure they consider what GPA system is used.

I was shocked at how many people have 4.0s until I realized that not every school does grades like mine.

Let’s say a student gets 20 A-s, 3 As, and 1 B+. At my school, this would be a 3.72 GPA, but at many it would be a 3.96.
The second system allows a student to get 6 grades between a B+ and a B-, and 18 A- or above, and come out with a better GPA.

Most schools that use the A,B,C,D only system don’t even put the + - indicators on the transcript, so the school doesn’t know a B+(3.3) from a B-(2.7), BUT the schools do know that this system was used.

Being able to see what gpa range the admits with your schools GPA system fell into could potentially be very useful.

Just a suggestion, if there’s a reason this wouldn’t help, ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I suppose it’s still worth considering when you see people with lower GPAs than you being admitted and want to stomp your feet. You may have had the exact same grades, or worse. GPA is not a universal equalizing measure, it’s very difficult to use to compare students.

Above, they will account for differences in grading systems —they create their own GPA for you.

@VenomBuds which is why I think that GPA system would be useful info to add to the decisions threads.

To anyone here who has had their interview and their EC has submitted the report as well: what comes up next to the interview option in your MyMIT account checklist? Want to make sure whether my own report has been submitted or not.

@RibaldFlotsam if I understand you correctly: a check, just like all the other items in the list.

Actually, I meant in the Application Tracking Details checklist that you get after clicking on “details” on the top-right corner of the checklist that comes up when we initially log in, where it says “processed” next to application items.

Just realized that MIT gives one of the earliest decisions…26 more days to go

Do you guys know if getting deferred (and then ultimately rejected) will help you when applying as a transfer applicant a few years from now? Or will it be like you never applied before
