Is there a MIT class of 2023 applicants thread anywhere? Thanks.
I got an email from my EC on the 13th but it turned out they live about 100 miles away from me. I thought that was pretty weird since my friends got interviews relatively nearby. I emailed my EC the same night saying that it would be hard to do an in-person email and I would be okay with a Skype call but I have yet to get a response. Should I email interview@mit.edu or should I send another email to my EC?
Am I just not getting an interview if I still didn’t get one?? sob sob
DS heard this week from the interviewer…they scheduled it tomorrow via Skype. Seems interviewer is in his state but not very close.
@geekgurl I have interviewed six students and MIT asked many of us to SKYPE interview more. Its a new process this year, and they are attempting to get to 100% but we’ll see if we make it. The interview is optional. I see this is causing even more stress on students than the old way, where they were in control. The RA interview window will be longer and MIT Admissions may have the kinks figured out by then. This year, what has happened, is that ECs are handing off a lot more interviews during EA than ever before. What this may mean is we interview some kids very very late, and remember a large number of students are deferred so that may not matter in the long run. Just be patient and let MIT Admissions work through the kinks in this new shorter window. MIT is a numbers school. If they have to, they will widen the window next year, I bet. Thats my bet, given how messed up this has been for so many ECs and applicants.
This may be of little comfort to some, but I had coffee with an EC today (technically, yesterday) and he told me MIT had asked him today to do four Skype interviews this weekend. Also, two hours ago another EC contacted me because an applicant from the same school where he had interviewed other applicants told him he had not been contacted. I checked and the applicant HAD been been assigned an interviewer. Sent him an email to see what was happening. In summary, we are still getting interviews in place. I also sent out a request to other EC’s to see if they’d be available this weekend for some last minute interviews. I’m sure I’m not the only EC coordinator doing this. Yes, it’s a new process this year, and we are aware we have some kinks to sort out, but we are working on it.
Even my son applied on last day and he did not received any mail for Interview yet . Please give your thought
If your son completed all the requirements of the application by the EA deadlines, then his application should be considered along with all the other EA applicants. In a way the good news is that this year MIT placed the responsibility of making fiirst contact with the MIT interviewrs, so if an applicant was not contacted at all, it’s not the applicant’s fault. Hope that helps.
By the way, if the EA deadlines were not met, then the application automatically gets put on the Regular process.
Thank you for your response This helps .
@Coloradomama Is there a date after which I’m not getting an interview at all? Like a hard deadline or something?
Finally he received an interview mail .
Interview reports from the ECs have a hard deadline of Sunday, November 18, according to MIT.
@HPuck35 If I haven’t gotten contacted for an interview by today, should I expect to have no interview?
Sunday Nov 18 is deadline to receive email or to complete Interview by interviewer ?
It’s actually the deadline for the interview reports to be submitted. So like two more minutes. I filed my lat two reports earlier today.
If i did not receive an email, what does that mean?
My son missed communication from EC.So his application will be rejected or it will be consider in regular action ?
Is there any chance MIT will increase Interview deadline.
MIT told the ECs that the November 18 is a hard deadline and won’t be extended. We’ll have to see if they really stick to it.
MIT will waive the interview for those that weren’t offered one. A waived interview is not supposed to affect one’s application.
I am a EA applicant that lives in the western suburbs of Chicago, and I have not yet received an interview request despite having received the email from MIT stating that my application is complete and ready to review. Is it still worth emailing them given the deadline was yesterday? If so, which email should I contact?
