I am an international applicant. My interviewer emailed me today asking to talk on skype/hangouts tomorrow, and requested my application part 2 pdfs(which include my essays, activities, and test scores). Will there be repercussions if I don’t call him?
@throwaway_1234 not sure I understand your question. Do you not want to interview, or do you not want to send your essays and info? If not, why? It would be considered rude not to respond to an interviewer.
I don’t really think they are supposed to be asking for your essays and stuff like that. That’s the admissions office’s job to read, not theirs. However, besides that, I would definitely take the interview and maybe just say that I didn’t feel comfortable sharing that information. While interviews are technically “optional” they really do add to your application therefore helping you.
It honestly sounds like your interviewer has not been trained properly. He isn’t supposed to be seeing your application and test scores. If he was, he would have no need to ask for them; they would have been supplied to him already. I would stall until you can speak to the admission office on Monday. Why don’t you give him a polite excuse why today is not a good time for you to do a video call, and ask if you can please schedule it for another day.
Somewhere on CC, we’ve got present or former MIT interviewers. I believe they are not to ask for copies of that detail. You’ll want to be diplomatic.
I am an EC and the interviewer is not supposed to be asking you for these. Contact MIT and ask them to contact the EC to see that he follows the rules.
