Interview confusion

I submitted Part 1 of the app online. Should I go ahead and contact my interviewer? I'm not done with my essays and stuff, but I heard that interviewers know NOTHING about you, except some basic info. Do I need to wait for anything from MIT before contacting? Thanks.

No, you do not. In fact, I think that I sent in Part I after the interview. Just give your EC a call.

I did my interview before even starting Part I... if you know who your EC is, go ahead and give him a call. :)

Should I bring anything with me to the interview, a resume perhaps?

I took a resume to my MIT interview. It gave an extra dimension to the interview, since my interviewer hadn't seen any of my application beforehand. I've seen a couple threads on interviews where adcoms suggest bringing an activities list, since it's a good jumping-off point.

Do you give it in the beginning or end? For my Harvard one, I gave it at the end.

aww man, i didnt bring anything.

i should've brought something

I gave it at the beginning, so that we could have something to talk about (wow, that makes it sound like I'm an incredibly boring person). The impression I got from Matt's blog and a couple posts on here by interviewers is that they usually don't see any of your application beforehand. The person who was interviewing me was really new to interviews too, so I think it was helpful in keeping the convo moving.

it's weird resetting to regular-decision mode. im still in the "MIT still hasnt processed my stuff!" mode lol

My interviewer told me in an email to bring a resume, but it wasn't ever needed at the interviewer. We just started talking write away and the last thing you want to do is run out of things to say. Had that happened, I would have needed to pop the resume out, but luckily it didn't result to that. An hour and a half goes by REAL quick, so you really want to show the interviewer what you have to offer other than the stats. I really thought that my interview was a way to show my personality and thought if it as "if i had another open-ended essay in the mit app, what would I say?"

My interviewer systematically went through my resume. Line by line, he asked me to elaborate on each activity and each accomplishment. Only in the end (last 15 min) did he allow me to ask questions about MIT :-(. Anyway, it probably went well, since he left with a postive impression of me. I assume he'll reiterate the highlights of my resume to MIT, this might be a good thing :S
