Now that the MIT Launch application has officially opened for next year, I’d like to get the ball rolling and start this thread for people to discuss the application, ask questions of clarification, and to just meet other potential Launchies!
To introduce myself, I’m Annie and I am an alumna of MIT Launch and am still very involved with the program. I’m more than happy to help answer questions you may have, but I will not be able to “chance” you or give personal feedback. Good luck everyone!
Do the companies survive post-program, and do they bring in revenue? MIT Launch is an expensive investment, and I don’t want to throw away money just so I can have a “start-up” that lasts 6 months.

It varies A LOT from team to team, but there are definitely teams that continue working and growing post-Launch. I would say that about half of the teams from my year (2014) continued after the program, and a handful of them have gained significant traction/support and are still scaling up. Some of this summer’s teams have also continued and worked to release beta versions of their apps and to further develop what they started at Launch.
I would love to apply to MIT Launch. Unfortunately, when I started to fill out the application a week or two ago, I was required to enter information such as GPA and grades. I go to a private school in New York, Saint Ann’s, which forsakes grades for quarterly, page long, written reports. I’m not quite sure what to do. I tried emailing, and received an error message from the “Mail-Daemon”. I then tried to contact the MIT Launch Facebook page to ask this question, and haven’t received a response for more than a week. Please advise. I look forward to your response.
@anniemit When will you post the specific dates for the June-July session? I would like to apply for both sessions, but I want to make sure the June-July session doesn’t take place during my school year.

Here are my stats, I would appreciate it if anyone could give me an idea on if I have a chance at being admitted into MIT Launch 2016.
Sophomore:
GPA- 3.92, with rigorous courses
2 years of college level engineering
YouTube channel with over 1,000 subscribers and 100,000 views- Carter Herman - YouTube - very experienced in video editing.
High School Baseball Player- Shortstop/Pitcher
High School Orchestra- Violinist
High School Robotics team mechanical engineer and CAD designer
Member of High School DECA team
50+ Hours volunteering, Peer tutor and FLL Mentor
Experienced in designing new products
The financial Need Scholarship “guide” posted by Russell Reed was very helpful!, although my parents still have some further questions in order to be prepared for the application. I would really appreciate if someone could answer them!

-Is the application any different for international participants?
-In the case of applying for a scholarship, in which part of the application do I need to specify so?

The program cost includes housing activities and program materials (no meal plan)
-Is the application any different for international participants?
No, the application process is the same. If you are accepted you will need a valid visa to travel and stay in the United States for the duration of the program.
-In the case of applying for a scholarship, in which part of the application do I need to specify so?
In the first part of the application, there will be a section that asks “If admitted, will you be applying for a financial need based scholarship?”. Check “Yes” to specify that you would like to apply for a scholarship!
-When will be we notified of our acceptance (or rejection) if we apply EA?
-Is there an interview in the application process or is our entire application composed of what is on the fluid review forum?
-My transcript has my social security number… can I black this out or is it necessary for the program to have?
