MIT Legacy

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows if being a MIT legacy will increase your chances of being admitted? My mom, dad, and sister all went to MIT. Will this help me get in at all?

It will if you inherited their smarts. :)

Unlike that liberal arts school up Mass Ave (aka “Havahd”), I don’t believe MIT places as much weight, if any, on an applicant’s legacy status. Apply (and if you get in, go!) if that is YOUR dream. Don’t feel you have to compete with your parents or especially your sister. Different people, different paths.

You are lucky that your parents went to MIT, u would have been luckier if they went to harvard, legacy really matters there. As far as I know, legacy matters but not too much at MIT, apply early !!
Answer my threads as well

Legacy relationships are NOT considered at MIT. [MIT Office of the Provost, Institutional Research](<a href=“MIT Institutional Research”>MIT Institutional Research) Section C7
