MIT Material?

Hi, I'm a freshman, but I guess it's better get started on preparing for college sooner than later. I consider myself an inquisitive person, and science is what I love. I am just wondering from the academic viewpoint, how am I doing? Also, I would like to know if MIT considers the 9th grade during applications because this year has been a bit of a rocky start.

Next Year's Schedule (Sophomore):

AP World History
AP Chemistry
AP Calculus BC
Physics 1 Honors
French 2
English Honors

Do you think I'm starting to provide a good foundation for vying to become a member at MIT?

MIT only takes the best of the best, so work hard and do well in your (MANY!) AP courses and I’m sure you’ll be fine.

I don’t think that two core science courses in your sophomore year are the best choice. It’s unclear what you’ll be doing in math and science by the time you’re a senior. There’s little merit in “placing” out of core science courses or advanced math (beyond first year calculus) at universities such as MIT. The college courses are taught with a different and deeper focus.

Consider a more rounded program – perhaps by taking a visual or performing art course, and continuing with it through your senior year. Or if that’s not possible at your school, what about a “shop” or technical theater. The idea is to become proficient in a high school setting outside of academics.

BC Calc sophomore year is very good…but dont start thinking about how you look to colleges. Just do what you love and learn as much as you can
