Ok, so now I'm confused because everyone is saying how they are writing about how they found out about MIT for this essay but I just wrote about my internship. Would it be better if I wrote about how I found out about MIT or what I like about it-- I just think that everyine is writing about that?!
I just don't know what to do for it but I know I want to write it.

Sure, write about your internship. Don't just change the topic because everyone else is doing it.

I would actually strongly suggest against doing what everybody else is doing, particularly if you have a compelling reason to do something other than what everybody else is doing.

ok thanks, also is it ok if it is written as kind of a narrative/story as the other essay is, or should it be more factual.

also, is it okay if it is 30 words over the 500 limit? there is no way I can make it less without it losing meaning

My usual rule is that 10% over or under the word limit isn't noticeable. And you can write the optional section in any manner you'd like.

Ok thanks! I just finished my essays...about to submit!
