MIT regular decision

i got wait-listed, and so did my best friend, and i thought we had pretty good shots at getting in. i had a 2250 and he had a 2350, straight As and 12 ap classes each, i'm an eagle scout and attended boy's state, he is a classical guitar prodigy and has done community service at the public library for 6 years. both varsity tennis. we're both pretty good writers, and i thought our essays were above average at worst.

MIT wasnt my top school, but jeez. i wanna know if anyone got in, and what your resume is!

Go on the Colleges --> MIT page. There's a whole thread with results for people who applied.

Being waitlisted at MIT is a great accomplishment. It means that they wanted you but ran out of slots. It doesn't mean that you did something wrong.

Also, last year, quite a few people got accepted off the waitlist.

Good luck in your other applications!

^^^jessiehl, I could be wrong, but I think 20 out of about 500 were admitted off the waitlist last year. Not really "quite a few".

Isn't this year's waitlist about 700? Of course, there could be a larger number of admits from everyone's waitlists this year.

Yes, it was 20 out of 500. Doesn't seem like so many, but it's 4%, making people who were called from the waitlist ~2% of the class of '11. I guess it's all relative. :) I didn't mean to imply that half the waitlist got called up or anything.

chone, you don't mention anything about u or ur friend having anything science/math-related. i figure mit would value math/science ec's the most
