If I get into Dartmouth, probably there! I have always wanted to go there more than MIT. Although I’m up for a full scholarship at URichmond so I don’t know. I’m still waiting to hear back from a bunch of schools that I’m sure I would be really happy at, so it’s hard to be disappointed when I love all the schools I applied to! Even if I get into Dartmouth, I will still probably have a lot of trouble deciding!

Waitlisted Caltech, rejected MIT, rejected Stanford EA, accepted to UCB (interviewed for regents scholarship). Do I have any chance at Princeton, Harvard, Brown, Yale?

^Pretty much same here

Accepted: nowhere
Waitlisted: Caltech
Denied: MIT … (Stanford deferral)

2300 SAT
3x800 SATII
valedictorian
not-even asian

Things are just too hard now-a-days

Holy crap zenzic, I saw your stats on the Stanford Decisions thread. Let me just tell you that they are astronomical - I’ve never seen someone with a 800 Lit and800Math/Sciences too. Thats truly amazing. Your academics are second to none. However, I’m honestly not that surprised that you didn’t get into Caltech or MIT, because I don’t think your a good fit. I think your too well rounded, and not nerdy enough (stupid I know).

Regardless, I think you’ll be a much better fit, and you’ll probably crack HYP, which is all that matters.

Almost sure Brown isn’t going to turn down someone with your stats. They seem to be a bit more objective (ironic that the most ‘liberal’ school is the most fair, whereas the most ‘technical’ school is the most biased)

^^didn’t you say that you got a Likely from Duke in the Duke RD Applicants thread? I hardly consider that nothing…

yeah, but haven’t officially been accepted yet though

@zenzic - recently I attended a college seminar and don’t take it the wrong way - but to hypms, you are another top scorer Asian candidate (leaning pretty heavily on academics). I don’t see the extra stand out factor. For example, Stanford values athletics, leadership, entreprenuership, I think MIT is getting a bit more holistic as well (they stress on collaboration ). I think the question to ask is “what can you contribute to the college diverse body…”
But you got into Berkeley Regents !! You will do good anywhere…it is just hypms have so many top scorers…they want to find another ‘X’ factor for admission.

Another thing, recommendations - I was told at this seminar that a so-so recommendation (even for a top candidate) can break the deal. Your teachers need to be pretty enthusiastic about you …

Brown <3 got a LL!

I applied to, let’s see, umm 17 schools, so far I have received a rejection from MIT and an acceptance from UMass Amherst. Practically speaking, I am 99% sure I am going to get rejected from all the top schools I have applied to, so I have set my heart on going to UMass :D

Is transfer recommended or even feasible:
I got a likely from COlumbia probably an acception from Cornell and probabbly will get rejected from Princetonn!
So: should I think of the transfer: bcz I can’t get rid of the image of MIT: If I only wasn’t an international student?
*I thought the diversity card would help me but not this time(no alumni from y country for the last 10 years)!
Anyway: I am so into MIT : Does transfer from like Cornell or Columbia a goos idea ?
Thanks!

Yep you can! Its the same case with me, so I might apply to MIT as a transfer either next year or the year after that!

Dartmouth (LL). Kudos to MIT admissions: now that I reflect back, I probably wasn’t the best fit for MIT lol.

As my status says, CMU, Berkeley, or Mudd. (Unless I get off the Caltech waitlist or miraculously get into Stanford.) Berkeley didn’t even invite me for a Regents interview, unlike most of my friends with similar stats. That’s kind of depressing.

CMU is my first choice out of the colleges that haven’t sent decisions out yet, but my parents like Mudd. So we’ll see once decisions come out. Who knows, Mudd could waitlist or reject me. :P

Still waiting on a few Ivies, but if none of those come through, I’ll be heading to UChicago in the fall for physics. I was accepted early and I love it, so I’m not too upset about my MIT rejection (or any future rejections).

I don’t know what I will do if I don’t get into MIT… I guess after MIT I’m looking at Stanford, Cornell, CMU, Caltech, or UC Berkeley not necessarily in that order though.

you are MIT denied, mathking ? so what do they look for ?

Harvard, it’s a 15 minute bike ride away.

But Harvard’s at least as difficult to get into…

sad face all around.

see that link for lowest acceptance rates of colleges in America!

I thought MIT’s acceptance rate was around 8% this year…

Correct. This link has not been updated yet. I believe that was for last years applicants, but I’m not sure. Quite embarrassing to post an outdated link…
