MITES / MOSTEC -- Teacher Recommendations question

So I am applying for the MIT OEOP summer program, and have a quick question regarding my teacher recommendations.

Unfortunately, I am not very close with my math or science teacher, and I am worried their recommendation for me will be very generic. I was wondering if there was a way I could instead have a technology teacher, who I am closer with, write my recommendation instead of one of the two?

How closely do you think the admissions people look at who the recommendation is from?

I don’t think that would work. From the application- The recommendations must be completed by a math teacher (from a pure math course, such as Algebra, Calculus, Trigonometry, or Geometry), science teacher (from a natural science course, such as Biology, Chemistry, and Physics)

does this mean that my statistics teacher should not have written mine?!?
