ACT: 33 one sitting
GPA: 4.1 weighted (dip in grades freshman year as a result of severe personal trauma)

Lots of the state schools on your list are very selective for out of state applicants and are reaches for all applicants. 90% of UT’s incoming class are Texas residents (by law).

I think you have a good shot of getting acceptances at SMU, TCU, and Miami and will probably will see one more from your list.

Thank you! I should have specified this above, but I have residency in Texas as well. My essay for UT is about growing up splitting time between NJ and TX, which I hope the admissions dept will enjoy. However, I understand the difficulty of their policies very well.
