'Mixing and matching' College Apps

Hello,

Can someone please tell me what online and offline common application really means? Obviously the basics are that online forms are all submitted via electronics and offline are not. Also, I’ve read that colleges do not do ‘mix-and-matches’. So I can’t send parts of my application online and some parts offline. My question is if my school decides to send transcripts and teacher recs by mail and I want to do my part of the application online (essays, supplements etc.) online, does that mean I’m mixing and matching? Are they considered a separate entity or not?

Thanks for clarifying!

Well I don’t think it’s an issue. Most high schools will submit recs and transcripts electronically through Common App itself (high schools have a common app account) or through Naviance. But sending a “hard copy” offline is acceptable if you high school doesn’t do things electronically.
